On the occasion of the International volunteering Day (IVD) on December 20, and
under the slogan “My Voluntary work is for my Country”, the Department of Volunteering, represented by Mrs. Nawf Tajuldeen, Department Mgr., provided a women’s event through which she expressed the importance and role of volunteering in the development of the country and society and the effectiveness of women’s participation in that. A big number of volunteers, sponsored by the Ola Al-Majd Development Charity, participated in the event. The event confirmed that the country is in dire need of volunteering in various aspects, the most important of which is helping the needy and the poor. She explained that volunteers represent the true lantern of building the future. In a speech delivered by the Executive Director Dr. Mona Al-Awdi, she praised all voluntary youth initiatives and others for its voluntary work and activities in various aspects at the level of Yemen. Holding such an event is an evidence of the determination of young people to move forward in participation in voluntary action and activities. She said that the volunteers contribute to the various developmental and humanitarian fields and work together in one spirit and vision. The voluntary youth’s speech, delivered by a young volunteer, expressed the happiness of the young men and women who is celebrating this international day by carrying out a number of charitable voluntary activities to serve the community. They emphasized their continuity and greater participation in volunteering during the coming period. The event provided a show of the most prominent women’s industries and handicrafts to encourage women and their prominent and effective role in society. They were thankful to the Al-Ola Training & Rehabilitation Center and the Department of Microfinance in seeking to empower poor families in general and women in particular in many different fields of skills and education. The event included art paragraphs, and comedy scenes presented by a number of young volunteers that have expressed the awareness and understanding of young people of the importance of volunteering in the building and development of homelands, and their continuation in voluntary work.
