OMD-Y has implemented ‘Al-Mehrasah Water Well Rehabilitation’ project at Bait All-Faqih District, Al-Hudaydah Governorate.
The implementation was carried out in two phases. The first one is the ‘drilling phase’ where it is done approximately to the depth of 140 meters. The second one is the ‘water pumping experiment’ in which the aquifer was assessed through gradual and continuous pumping, and monitoring the response to know the amount and level of water drop.
This project is one of the projects implemented by OMD-Y within the framework of the ‘Water, Environment and Sanitation Program’. This is to mitigate the suffering of families, especially women and children who walk for long distances in search of potable and usable water. This search of water causes significant problems such as children leaving school, standing in long queues waiting for their turn, and women leaving their babies in their homes to get water.
